Imagine combining a seventies hippy and an angel into one person, because that is what Mara Grams is.

As we skipped around meadows, hiding under trees (and in the back of my car) to avoid the rain and stuffing ourselves with garlic bread, I slowly became more and more enchanted with Mara. Her effortless smile and incredible taste in music won me over, and we shared our favourite things with each other.

She is more than just a festival queen, although that is a title I gladly bestow upon her, but she is also an absolute sweetheart.

Meet Mara.

Introduce yourself

Hey, I’m Mara 🙂

Where’s home?

Home is between Sydney, Noosa and Brisbane. I originally moved to Sydney last year from Brisbane for uni, and I’m living here now, but my dad lives in Brisbane and my Mum lives in Noosa,  so I’m stuck in between all three places somehow. They all feel like home for different reasons.

mara collage 2

Describe yourself in 3 words

Spontaneous, Adventurous, Outgoing!

What are you doing at the moment? What do you want to be doing?

I’m studying Creative Direction and Styling at uni currently, and hopefully out of that I will eventually be styling photoshoots, taking photos and travelling.

Your spirit animal?

100% a Cat – I’ve been obsessed with them ever since I was little.

Something you’re dying to try is…

At the moment I really want to go skydiving ahaha! I’m actually super scared of it and think I would probably cry, but I still REALLY want to do it. Same as scuba diving.

mara collage 3

If you could teleport anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

I would definitely go to Turkey! It’s one place I’ve been wanting to go for a while now. I just love everything about it. Their culture, the beautiful water and places to visit.

What keeps you sane?

Going to the beach keeps me sane. Whenever I just feel like chilling out on the weekend, that’s where I head with friends, it helps me to get away from everything for a while. Basically just going on fun adventures anywhere with friends is pretty great.

mara 3

If you could change something about the world, what would it be?

Animal cruelty or poverty. Both are issues I’m really passionate about.

What’s something you’re afraid of?

The dark ahaha! Sounds super weird but I think when I was little I was told waayyy to many horror stories around the campfire, and now I’m scared being alone outside in the dark. I literally can’t watch a single horror movie…

mara collafe 1

What do you want to be remembered for?

I hope that I am remembered for just being a good person and helpful to those around me.

Words for everyone to live by?

BE KIND! Super simple but I think that it’s so important for everyone to be giving and kind to each other.

Also another one I always think about is to embrace change, I think that its so good to change things about your life so you don’t miss out on experiencing all the different things the world has to offer.

You know those girls you meet when you’re out and have had a few (too many) drinks – you become best friends, share some raw advice and then never see each other again. Mia is the exception.

Since our first meeting at a bar in Bondi, we’ve realised we have a lot more in common than a few mutual friends – shout out to Avalon for the introduction – we have the same favourite animal and colour, and we’ve both had a crush on Dylan Goodearl from Puberty Blues at some stage (the main difference being Mia is dating him, whereas I just drooled at my TV).

One of the newest faces of Neon Model Management, Mia is an aspiring actress, a ray of sunshine and a real life barbie doll.

Meet Mia.

Introduce yourself

I’m Mia Healey, I’m 18 and love the colour yellow.

Happy, ambitious and genuine.

Your spirit animal?

Some sort of mix between a giraffe and Missy Elliott.

Something you’re dying to try is…

I want to try and learn another language .

If you could teleport anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

New York City, as always.

What keeps you sane?

If you could change something about the world, what would it be?

Trump and animal cruelty!

What’s something you’re afraid of?

I have an irrational fear of vomiting in public.

What do you want to be remembered for?

I want to be remembered for being caring and solution focused

Words for everyone to live by?

Conanti corona – a crown for the tryer.

Mia @ Neon Model Management

The first time I saw Grace, she was singing Dolly Partons’ Jolene during the blind auditions of The Voice, winning over the hearts of many (including myself and Delta Goodrem).

Since then, after discovering that we were semi neighbours, Grace has continuously won me over, charming me with her infectious smile, sweet melodies and shared love for vintage rags.

She is not just a singer, musician or model, but a source of endless giggles and warmth.

Meet Grace.

Introduce yourself

My names Grace Pitts, I’m 19 and I’m a total mix of a beachy/city girl.

I also happen to be a Musician, a Disney presenter and a goofy face enthusiast.

Where’s home?

I sing, play guitar and also piano so something as simple as jamming out with myself in the car to a song, or having an instrument in my hands feels like home

My best friend Kelsey has also been the warmest, most hilarious, feisty, embarrassing, incredible home for 7 years of my life – wherever I am in the world.

Describe yourself in 3 words

Introvert/extrovert, loving and quite-hilarious-if-I-do-say-so-myself (ßThat counts as one word right?)…

What are you doing at the moment? What do you want to be doing?

I’ve been going in between Sydney where I’m a presenter for Disney Channel and Byron Bay, where I’ve been writing an album all year, and I can’t wait to surprise everyone with my new music!

Plus last night I got to go to the ARIA’s, so life is pretty damn cool.

Your spirit animal?

Anyone who eats a lot of food and has a sweet tooth! (Hey girl, I see you, don’t be ashamed.. eat that chocolate )

If you could teleport anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

San Francisco, where I spent a lot of my childhood.

What keeps you sane?

Hot vegetarian noodle soup!

If you could change something about the world, what would it be?

Our constant needs to compare and compete with each other.

What do you want to be remembered for?

Making people smile, whether it’s a cheesy joke, being a good friend or from listening to my music. My goal in life is always SMILES!

Words for everyone to live by?

Put your happiness first.

Special thanks to Oliver Repetto for lending us your beautiful car.

Katya is a wildflower in every sense of the word.

She does not conform to those around her.

She comes alive in the sunshine.

She is free.

Katya and I drove down the coast south of Sydney to meet our friend Melanie, and together the three of us danced through fields while singing Big Jet Plane.

She is wise beyond her years and a breathe of fresh air.

Meet Katya.

Introduce yourself

Hi, I’m Katya Harvey!

Where’s home?

I live by the beach in cronulla, NSW, Australia.

Describe yourself in three words?

3 words to describe myself would be eccentric, creative and stubborn.

What are you doing at the moment/What do you want to be doing?

I’m currently watching mission impossible (I love Tom cruise), I’d love to be lying on the beach somewhere warm.

Your spirit animal?

Stevie Nicks and Uma Thurman. They’re fucking awesome!

If you could teleport anywhere in the world right now where would you go?

Probably Morocco or Mexico, I’ve always wanted to travel there!

What keeps you sane?

Music and food.

If you could change something about the world, what would it be?

I’d reduce the number of idiots we have in the world…

What is something your afraid of?

I’m afraid of being abandoned.

Words for everyone to live by…

fight gravity and fly away. Reach new horizons and expand yourself.

The day I spent in the winter sun with Alyce was one of the most magical mondays a girl could dream of. It only took about 2 seconds for us to realise we were wearing identical jackets, as our friend Grace giggled and labelled us soul sisters.

We danced in sparkling waters, talked about crystals and ate pizza as the sun set, the kind of day you can’t recreate, but will stay with us forever.

She’s an artist, as seen on her personal touches to each captured moment, and a life-long friend.

Meet Alyce.

Introduce yourself

I’m Alyce, I like to draw and sometimes do other things.

Where’s home?

Not too sure at the moment, currently living in Sydney though.

Describe yourself in 3 words

Curious, imaginative, adrift.

What are you doing at the moment, what do you want to be doing?

Right now, after finishing school last year and studying for a semester at art school, I’m taking a breather.

There’s so much time ahead of us and I’m only 19! I feel like I should take time to just ‘be’ for a little bit before everything is fit into a schedule again. Apart from that I’m job juggling trying to save for travelling and concert ticket purposes.

Your spirit animal

Probably like a weird Koala, Seal, Puppy-Dog hybrid kind of thing?

Something you’re dying to try is

I want to do a mural somewhere in the world! I’ve been drawing on walls and random objects as far back as I can remember and dabbled in street art loosely when I was younger – I miss it and all my walls are covered so I’m in need of more canvases.

If you could teleport anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

Neverland or Croatia… one of the two

What keeps you sane?

Creating things, usually drawing – even if I end up hating it and screwing it up I find a lot of release in it. The same with swimming and walking or just taking time to notice certain things around you; I’d like to think there’s an understated beauty in everything.

What makes your bones tingle?

The sun, the moon, chaos, contentment, and the balance in all of it

If you could change something about the world, what would it be?

I feel like there’s a lot of injustice in the school system that we just kind of seem to go along with and accept because it’s been that way for so long

What’s something you’re afraid of?

As lame as it sounds, I’m scared of the thought of getting swept up in all the typical fundamentals of sustaining a life in the city and trying to somehow become an adult. I don’t want to be in a position where creativity is just a hobby! I once read that an artist who stops creating is committing emotional suicide, so to summarise – I guess I’m afraid of emotional suicide. Not a fan of snakes either.

What do you want to be remembered for?

I think the most simple and powerful thing we can bring during our time here and wherever we may go is positivity, whatever form it may be. I want to be open and loving and help people if I can. I think that’s why I like drawing and creating things, you’re able to give a message that resonates with those who interpret it, whether it be a sense of hope or passion or just a general warmness and appreciation. I want to be able to leave a sense of positivity.

Words for everyone to live by

Work on yourself, even if you think it’ll lead nowhere.

Keep being a mess, because you’re not going to get anywhere by being clean-cut and neat. Some people don’t get things on the first go and that’s ok it just means you deserve it more when you get it.

You’re wonderful and you are here by chance, don’t let it down.

Tara (aka fashionbambini) is one of the most stylish human beings/beans I’ve ever met.

Not many people can rock an electric blue parrot shirt with soy-sauce-fish earrings, but she pulls it off.

Not many people can balance uni/a social life/a blog/a vlog/a self-run business/a magazine/the rest of their life, but she makes it look easy.

When our initial plans to meet were washed out in rain, we decided to revisit our childhood; rented movies, library books, two-dollar stores and a lunch made entirely of fries and candy.

She’s on a path to change the way we see and share fashion, and I can’t wait to see where it takes us.

Meet Tara.

Tara 2

Introduce yourself

I’m Tara, 18. I was born and raised in Sydney, but I’m Indonesian Chinese. I have an extensive sock collection and I outfit repeat everything.

Where’s home?

The place I go back to to sleep. Mainly the room I grew up in (I’ve never moved house), or hotels/apartments I stay in when I travel.

Describe yourself in 3 words

Eclectic, a hoarder and a bean.

What are you doing at the moment? What do you want to be doing?

I’m currently a full-time uni student at UTS studying a bachelor of business. On the side I make YouTube videos, blog a bit, run a small online store (I’m probably closing soon), I’m an editor of a magazine I created, and I post way too much on Instagram.

I want to go into entrepreneurship in the near future – what I’d sell is still in the works – but I love the idea of just doing what I want without restrictions but myself. Also, clichéd, but I want to travel.

Your spirit animal?

A bean (and Willow Smith).

Something you’re dying to try is…

Tara 4

If you could teleport anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

Mongolia! (or Finland, Iceland, Canada, Mexico) – (I want to go to turkey but it’s dangerous with the current political situation)

What keeps you sane?

My friends. They keep my grounded.

Tara 3

If you could change something about the world, what would it be?

That everyone had the same social and political views as me – then we would live in harmony.

What’s something you’re afraid of?

I’m not really afraid of anything – but I have a strong dislike for insects, bugs and just any living thing that flies (birds).

What do you want to be remembered for?

This is hard…Probably my ability to empathise.

Words for everyone to live by?

You do you

Avalon Angel does a lot of things, including living up to her name.

I was first introduced to Avalon a few months ago when a mutual friend, Joss, told me to check out her new uni friend on Instagram – I was mesmerised, and since getting to know her have only fallen more under her spell.

It didn’t take long for other people to notice Avalon’s beauty, as she was scouted and signed as the fresh face of Culture Machine Agency and dubbed Australia’s Lilah Summer.

She’s an angel-faced beauty with a golden heart.

Meet Avalon.

Introduce yourself

I’m Avalon Angel Ible, full-time student and workin gal

Where’s home?

I’m currently living the Sydney inner city life but I guess I’m most at home chilling, listening to music #cliche

Describe yourself in 3 words

Delusional, Funny and as sensitive as a flower

avalon edit 4

What are you doing at the moment? What do you want to be doing?

Physically I’m studying and stuck at a desk, but once I’m done with exams I hope to be  (I know it sounds dumb)  improving my health, my life and the relationships I have with others. Oh and getting some fresh threads for next semester 😉

Your spirit animal?

Probably Shia Labeouf ‘cause I always seem to have a little voice in my head saying JUST DO IT!!!  Also I’m quite erratic

avalon edit 3

Something you’re dying to try is…

Travelling alone I reckon. That seems like an awesome experience. Really though, I’m down for trying anything new

If you could teleport anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

I know it’s the wrong time of the year, but skiing in the French alps is all I’ve recently been thinking about

What keeps you sane?

Probably my close friends like Joss and a high school mate of mine, I’ve been on struggle street recently and they’ve definitely kept me sane. Running is also pretty good

avalon edit 2

If you could change something about the world, what would it be?

Trump, Brexit, Sexism, Racism and just Australian politics in general

What’s something you’re afraid of?

A big fear of mine is getting injured or something like that where I’m not able to live my life to the fullest… also not a fan of how the future of our planet and politics is looking

What do you want to be remembered for?

That’s so difficult because I don’t see myself, or ever want to be seen as inspirational. But I’d like the people I know to remember me for the real me (not just the one on Instagram)

Words for everyone to live by?

Its a tie between “You must strive to find your own voice because the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are to find it at all” – Robin Williams, Dead Poets Society

and “Remember kids if you don’t sin, then Jesus died for nothing” –  Ricky Gervais.
